The UL Mission
Ever since UL founder William Henry Merrill opened a one-room testing laboratory back in 1894, UL has focused on advancing public safety. Today, more than 6,800 members of the UL family continue to fulfill Mr. Merrill’s vision by testing and certifying thousands of products each year and communicating safety information and advice to help protect you and your family.
